Energy Innovation and Sustainability on Campus: Implementation of A Biogas System at IFBA Salvador

 
 Objective: To investigate the feasibility and benefits of implementing a biogas system at IFBA Salvador campus, focusing on energy sustainability and efficient waste management. Theoretical Framework: Addresses the importance of energy sustainability in educational environments, with an emphasis on the use of biogas as an alternative to LPG. Examines the environmental impact of using fossil fuels and the effectiveness of biogas-based solutions.
  
 Method: Uses an exploratory approach to collect and analyze data on LPG consumption and organic waste generation at the IFBA Salvador campus cafeteria and restaurant. The methodology includes quantitative analyses of GHG emissions and the assessment of the infrastructure needed to implement the biogas system.
  
 Results: Reveals significant potential for reducing LPG consumption and GHG emissions through the implementation of biogas. Identifies environmental and economic benefits, including the estimated annual savings and reduction of CO2 emissions.
  
 Research Implications: Highlights the importance of the project for energy sustainability and environmental awareness in the educational context. Emphasizes the role of waste management and renewable energy in reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices.

Analysis of the Impact of Personalized Learning Paths in Mobile Learning Platforms on the Development of Self-Directed Learning Strategies Among Brazilian College Students

This paper investigates the impact of personalized mobile learning (m-learning) platforms on the development of self-directed learning (SDL) strategies among Brazilian college students. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study combines quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to explore how personalized learning paths influence SDL skills such as goal-setting, time management, and reflective practice. The quantitative analysis reveals a significant positive correlation between the degree of personalization in m-learning experiences and enhancements in SDL competencies. Qualitative insights further elucidate students’ perceptions of personalized m-learning, highlighting increased motivation, engagement, and a sense of ownership over their learning processes. The research also delves into the challenges and opportunities presented by the Brazilian educational context, including infrastructural limitations and the digital divide. The findings underscore the potential of personalized m-learning platforms to foster learner autonomy and suggest implications for educators, policymakers, and educational technology developers. The study calls for further research on the longitudinal effects of personalized learning and the socio-economic factors affecting m-learning adoption and effectiveness.

DESAFIOS NA EDUCAÇÃO MODERNA POR HANNAH ARENDT

This writing aims to provide a critical analysis of the work “The Crisis in Education” by Hannah Arendt, focusing on educational decadence in the United States as an intrinsic facet of the challenges faced in the 20th century, aligning its perceptions with the Brazilian reality. The author highlights the continued deterioration of educational standards as a latent threat, while criticizing the illusion of forging a new world through education, including an exploration of the influence of equality in American society. The methodological approach adopted is bibliographic analysis, through the use of historical, philosophical and sociological arguments extracted from the alleged work. It is emphasized how relevant these characteristics are today in view of the needs for changes in the Brazilian educational system. The purpose of this research is to contribute to a better understanding of Arendt’s work, providing a solid theoretical basis aimed at contemporary reflections on the obstacles present in the educational scenario in Brazil. Its analysis goes beyond a mere bibliographical review by proposing relevant approaches to the areas of education. Therefore, the article is organized into two distinct moments, one that analyzes Hannah Arendt’s work, and the other that brings this reality to the Brazilian educational context.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ART SUBJECT IN COMPLETE EDUCATION SCHOOLS

This research explores the intersection between art and integral education, seeking to understand how the significant insertion of artistic practices can contribute to the student’s full development in the Brazilian educational context. Based on works by authors such as Gadotti (2009), Cavaliere (2014), and Oliveira (2019), the research highlights the importance of art not only as a discipline, but as a catalyzing tool for expression, creativity and socio-emotional development. The results reveal practical and structural challenges in the effective implementation of artistic practices, as evidenced by the research by Cardoso and Oliveira (2022). The gap between theory and practice highlights the need for a thorough review of educational policies to ensure that art is meaningfully integrated into everyday school life. Legislation at the state level, exemplified by laws in Goiás, signals the search for pedagogical innovation and the need for constant updates to align educational practices with contemporary demands. This legislative dynamism suggests a constant dialogue between theory and practice, emphasizing the importance of a flexible and adaptable approach in implementing artistic practices in comprehensive education. By drawing horizons for a comprehensive education enriched by art, this research contributes to the development of strategies and policies that promote a more complete and meaningful educational experience for students, going beyond the mere transmission of formal knowledge.  

Curriculum reform in Brazilian secondary education: Creating global citizens

Teaching people how to read, write, and count in a globalized and multicultural society is no longer sufficient. Skills like respecting one another, combating racism, prejudice, and intolerance, and learning to address local and global problems have become critical. UNESCO's Global Citizenship Education (GECD) initiative has faced criticisms for promoting secular values over religious ones and being too individualistic at times. Therefore, this article proposes improvements to GECD, including the introduction of new knowledge areas such as Negotiation, Social Justice, Brazilian and Global Culture, Values and Perceptions, Brazilian and Global Institutions, Conflict Resolution, Respect, and Tolerance. The objective is two-fold: to reform the GECD curriculum by presenting a new course on Global Education and Citizenship adapted to the Brazilian educational context and to reform the Brazilian National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC) for secondary education.

PNLD 2020 and the teaching book of the final years of Portuguese language: a critical analysis on the inclusion of LIBRAS

The objective of this article is to analyze enunciative elements referring to the criteria for choosing the textbook from the Call for Proposals for the Registration and Evaluation Process of Didactic Works for the PNLD 2020 National Book and Teaching Material Program (BRASIL, 2018) , in a critical perspective regarding the effective inclusion of the Deaf and Deaf in the Brazilian educational political-pedagogical context, observing what has been produced as school material to support Portuguese Language classes. The hypothesis of this analysis is that the choice of the textbook will be permeated by the discourse of diversity, the inclusive look, the respect for identities through the bias of compliance with Law 10.436 / 2002 - Libras Law - in elementary school books II, 6th to the 9th year, as well as the recognition of the “Deaf Bodies” and their places as social subjects of law, proposing critical discursive reflections on the spaces historically denied in textbooks, at school, in the classroom, even reflecting on the BNCC / 2017 - diversified part. The methodology used is presented through bibliographic analysis dialoguing with national official documents, in order to broaden new horizons in the Brazilian educational construct, pointing out other ways for new selection criteria and choice of books, in addition to hegemonic impositions. Therefore, a dialogue is proposed between Foucault (2013; 2004), Azevedo; Piris (2016), Piris; Azevedo (2018), Pennycook (2003; 1998), Bakhtin (2003, 1998, 1999), Volochinov (2017); Orlandi (2003); Strobel (2009), Grigoletto (2011) and other bibliographies referring to the conceptions of voices, speeches, bodies and power, whose final perspective is to open reflections for new discussions.

ICT, Media and Education – Some Considerations from the Brazilian Scenario

<p>The Brazilian educational context has shown a relative emphasis on what official documents foresee with regard to the mere “use” of ICT as opposed to a more critical stance that situates these technologies as cultural instruments with an empowerment dimension. With the purpose of constituting a theoretical and epistemological framework around the relationship between technologies and education, this report presents concepts hitherto shyly presented in Brazil, on the basis of the compilation of studies published in the last five years worldwide.</p>

Lessons Learned Piloting an EMI Support Course at a Southern Brazilian University

While the literature on English as a medium of instruction (EMI) has seen steady growth over the last two decades, the topic of pre- and in-service teacher education for EMI has received relatively little attention—a situation that is even more marked within the context of Brazilian higher education. Responding to this gap with a practice-oriented contribution, this paper distills some of the major insights gained from piloting an EMI support course at a private university in the south of Brazil. The paper is organized around five themes, or ‘lessons learned,’ which represent the most salient takeaways from the piloting experience. These lessons intersect with some of the most pressing issues faced by researchers, practitioners, and policymakers involved with EMI in higher education contexts. By aligning theoretical and practical concerns, the paper seeks to establish an agenda for further investigation into EMI teacher education—especially within the Brazilian context.

Educar em tempos de incertezas: a implementação do ensino remoto na rede municipal de Floriano-Piauí

A Pandemia da COVID-19 provocou profundas mudanças no contexto educacional do Brasil a partir da instauração do surto da doença e das orientações para a contenção do vírus através do isolamento social. Nesse estudo, partimos da seguinte questão norteadora: como ocorreu o planejamento e quais ferramentas foram usadas para a implementação do Ensino Remoto pela SME de Floriano-PI? O artigo tem como objetivo apresentar e analisar os documentos produzidos pela Secretaria Municipal de Educação (SME) de Floriano-PI para o enfrentamento da Pandemia da COVID-19 nas escolas de Educação Infantil e Ensino Fundamental. O trabalho se insere no campo da História do Tempo Presente, utilizando como fonte documental decretos, circulares, textos e normativas produzidos pela SME de Floriano para regulamentar as aulas não presenciais.

A docência nos Institutos Federais em tempos pandêmicos

Este ensaio objetiva elucidar provocações teóricas sobre a docência nos Institutos Federais (IFs), em meio à pandemia do início do século XXI, problematizando os desafios, saberes docentes e necessidades formativas para o ensino não presencial. Em face do isolamento social, decorrente do novo coronavírus (COVID-19), os professores foram desafiados ao ensino por meio de aulas remotas não presenciais, tendo que mobilizar diversas estratégias didáticas, algumas de formas improvisadas, mediadas pelas tecnologias, para as quais, muitos não estavam qualificados. Na construção deste ensaio, recorre-se inicialmente, a uma reflexão sobre o contexto sócio político da educação brasileira pública em meio à pandemia. Posteriormente, discorre-se sobre o ensino não presencial no contexto pandêmico, sinalizando as orientações das diretrizes do CNE/MEC e; finalizar-se-á com algumas provocações teóricas sobre a docência, destacando os desafios e advogando a necessidade da formação para a mobilização de saberes docente que contemplem as necessidades do ensino-aprendizagem em um cenário tão complexo.

Samba and Choro in the Classroom

This article examines how the performance of samba and choro becomes a process of student enculturation within a Brazilian formal educational context. Musical enculturation is defined as the process of gaining music skills and knowledge through immersion in the music making and music of one’s social environment. While the processes of enculturation involve both formal and informal education, this study primarily focuses upon the formal instruction at Colégio Pedro II (São Cristóvão), a federally funded public school in Rio de Janeiro. This research shows that samba and choro were selected by Colégio Pedro II music instructors as culturally important musical forms representative of Rio de Janeiro, historically excluded from formal, public education. The recent inclusion of samba and choro in formal education was made possible by progressive, post-1988, Brazilian educational legislation. I argue that the teaching of samba and choro in the school environment provides students with the necessary participatory skills to engage with the rich musical traditions of samba and choro that are pervasive in Rio de Janeiro as cultivated through the enculturative processes demonstrated at Colégio Pedro II (São Cristóvão) grupo de samba and grupo de choro.

A educação em disputa no Brasil contemporâneo: entre os estudos de gênero, a dita ideologia de gênero e a produção de uma ‘ideologia de gênesis’

O presente artigo dá-se a partir de um processo reflexivo-filosófico sobre o contexto da educação brasileira na contemporaneidade e as perseguições impostas aos pesquisadores de gêneros e sexualidades no campo da educação por meio do agenciamento de setores conservadores da sociedade, sobretudo de matriz cristã, com intuito de deslegitimar e desqualificar esta área do saber ao cunhar a terminologia ideologia de gênero. Neste sentido, propõe ainda desvendar uma nova produção conceitual, a de uma ideologia de gênesis’, influenciada pela religiosidade cristã e propagada por estes mesmos agentes, agora utilizando os ensinamentos bíblicos como forma de interdição dos corpos para salvaguardar as suas entradas no Céu de Cristo. As análises e reflexões apresentadas estão amparadas, de modo central, nos estudos de gênero e no pensamento de Foucault (2004, 2008, 2014a, 2014b). Este é um estudo teórico-bibliográfico de natureza filosófica. O período analisado compreende a década de 2010-2020, marcada, no cenário político brasileiro, por muita instabilidade e pela ascensão de um neoconservadorismo.

Políticas de formação de leitores no final da década de 1960: Nancy Larrick (1969) e as orientações para pais e professores

Com o objetivo de contribuir para a compreensão da história da formação de professores e para a história da literatura infantil brasileira, analisou-se a configuração textual do Guia dos pais na escolha de livros para crianças, de Nancy Larrick, especialista nos assuntos relacionados à leitura para crianças, publicado pelo Centro de Bibliotecnia para o Desenvolvimento do Instituto “Roberto Simonsen” (SP), em 1969.  Esse livro é a tradução do original norte-americano A parent’s guide to childreen´s reading, publicado pelo Franklin Book Programs, em 1958. A tradução em língua portuguesa foi feita pela professora Alcina Jorge de Almeida e a adaptação pelo jornalista Leonardo Arroyo, com a supervisão do professor e psicólogo Manoel Lourenço Bergström Filho. Os resultados obtidos por meio da análise do Guia dos pais ... têm contribuído para a compreensão da necessidade apontada por especialistas em literatura infantil, leitura e bibliotecas para a infância, em meados do século XX, dentre eles Leonardo Arroyo e Lenyra Fraccaroli, quanto à orientação de pais e professores na escolha de bons livros para crianças e jovens. Nesse contexto educacional brasileiro, destaca-se também a elaboração de catálogos de livros para crianças, uma prática iniciada pelos pioneiros Lenyra Fraccaroli e Leonardo Arroyo.

O Projeto Político Pedagógico numa perspectiva coletiva

Este artigo apresenta resultados de um estudo sobre processo de construção do Projeto Político-Pedagógico (PPP) realizado numa escola em Quixadá/Ce. Esse documento indica um caminho a ser seguido de forma explícita por uma escola. Objetivou-se investigar como ocorre a elaboração dessa política educacional, o PPP, diante do contexto educacional brasileiro que se lança nos últimos anos e qual sua conexão com a realidade escolar examinada. A metodologia adotada foi um estudo de caso, com fontes essenciais norteada pela pesquisa qualitativa na análise dos dados, foram utilizados como instrumento o questionário estruturado e o grupo focal, articulados com o quadro teórico disponível sobre o tema. Nessa pesquisa, dialogou-se com Ilma Passos Alencastro Veiga, principal teórico no aprofundamento da temática. Os resultados da investigação anunciam que o PPP tem conexão com a unidade escolar, mas para que seja efetivamente elaborado e/ou executado, com a participação integral da comunidade educativa, operando de forma democrática com o envolvimento dos diversos segmentos, de forma que venha contribuir para o  trabalho pedagógico da unidade de ensino.

Homeschooling no contexto político brasileiro e os seus impactos para a Educação enquanto Direito Social

Esse artigo tem o objetivo de refletir sobre o movimento homeschooling no contexto educacional brasileiro, problematizando as contradições da educação pública ofertada pelo Estado e da perspectiva liberal da educação domiciliar, mediante os impactos dessa perspectiva educacional na Educação enquanto Direito Social. Além de situar as origens do tema em questão, procuraremos expor ao leitor o aparecimento dos projetos na Câmara Federal do Brasil, apresentando alguns aspectos relevantes dos projetos de lei para discussão. Por fim, a partir da perspectiva teórica adotada neste trabalho e com base no objeto investigado, consideramos a necessidade da construção de uma sociedade que possibilite uma educação para além das estruturas vigentes e, portanto, uma educação que, efetivamente, seja um direito humano e social.

Assessment of teacher training in the Brazilian educational context

Evaluation is intrinsic to the pedagogical process and it is related to the use of particular instruments, models and interpretations of the political and social impacts of Education in the Brazilian context. Teacher training is presented here as a focal point in achieving better learning outcomes among pupils. Understanding the importance of these themes in current discussions and based on related legal documents and studies, the article aims to discuss the demands, gaps and contributions of evaluation and assessment in the initial and continuing education of teachers in the context of Brazilian education. In order to accomplish this objective, a documental research of national and international legal frameworks was conducted . We identified the demands, disparities  and lacunae in the educational assessment, first in the initial and then in the continuing education of teachers, as well as considering that the assessment can contribute to Education in several facets of the Brazilian reality.

Investigando efeito retroativo do SAEB/Prova Brasil de leitura no 9º ano do ensino fundamental

Neste artigo apresento resultados parciais de uma investigação qualitativa sobre o efeito retroativo de uma avaliação padronizada em larga escala presente no contexto educacional brasileiro, o SAEB/Prova Brasil. Foram conduzidas entrevistas semiestruturadas com gestores e professores de 9º ano de língua portuguesa de duas escolas e um centro regional de ensino do Distrito Federal e analisadas suas percepções acerca dessa avaliação, com o objetivo de contribuir para a compreensão do fenômeno do efeito retroativo. Os resultados encontrados trazem reflexões pertinentes acerca da avaliação pelos entrevistados, que não a ignoram e revelam algumas estratégias adotadas por força da avaliação em uma das escolas, dando indícios de efeito retroativo de intensidade fraca, ligado ao fator de prestígio associado ao resultado numérico representado pelo IDEB.

Políticas públicas em educação e a garantia do direito à educação no contexto de desigualdade social no Brasil

Este artigo resulta de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, que tem por objetivo analisar a relação entre as desigualdades sociais, as desigualdades educacionais, o fracasso escolar e a meritocracia no contexto educacional brasileiro. A meritocracia, enquanto subjetividade, contribui para a permanência das referidas desigualdades e do fracasso escolar. Assim, buscamos compreender a importância da proposição de políticas públicas em educação como forma de enfrentamento das desigualdades educacionais e como garantia do direito à educação. O argumento teórico do artigo fundamenta-se em Arroyo (2010), Ball, Maguire e Braun (2016), Castro (2003a, b), Quijano (2010), Galeano (2017), Teixeira (1994), Bobbio (1992), Moll (2017) e Souza (2009). Concluímos, a partir do diálogo com esses autores, que políticas públicas em educação, de caráter democrático e enquanto diretrizes educativas, podem contribuir com a escola pública no cumprimento de sua função constitucional de ser responsável pela garantia da educação enquanto direito social dos estudantes brasileiros. 

Inteligência emocional de professores universitários

O contexto atual da educação superior brasileira favorece sobrecarga de trabalho aos docentes, devido, entre outros fatores, ao aumento na proporção do número de alunos por professor. Além disso, a atual instabilidade nas políticas públicas na educação tende a adicionar outros fatores que podem impactar tanto o desempenho em sala de aula como a qualidade de vida dos docentes de forma diferenciada no ensino público e privado. A inteligência emocional tem atraído crescente interesse da academia e já é sabido que pode possibilitar melhor desempenho no trabalho, maior blindagem a possíveis efeitos nocivos do ambiente profissional e melhor qualidade de vida Dada sua importância, este estudo teve por objetivo verificar se há diferenças significativas nos níveis de inteligência emocional entre professores de ensino superior  público e privado no Brasil. Para isso utilizou-se a escala de Wong e Law (2002) para medir o nível de inteligência emocional em quatro dimensões distintas com uma amostra de 415 indivíduos. A pesquisa identificou que professores atuantes nas universidades privadas possuem maior nível de inteligência emocional e sugere a capacitação profissional em inteligência emocional para mitigar alguns efeitos danosos do meio sobre o seu bem-estar e processo didático.

Avaliação de larga escala em leitura: considerações sobre construto e método de avaliar no SAEB e no PISA

O presente trabalho investiga o construto de leitura de duas avaliações externas de larga escala presentes no cenário educacional brasileiro: o Sistema de Avaliação da Educação Básica (SAEB) e o Programa Internacional de Avaliação de Estudantes (PISA), com foco em seus métodos de avaliar (ou nos formatos dos testes). O objetivo é contribuir com subsídios para melhor entendimento da leitura no contexto da avaliação, considerando que ambas avaliações têm potencial de influenciar não só as decisões políticas, como também as práticas pedagógicas. A análise tem aporte teórico da Linguística Aplicada, na área de avaliação em contexto de línguas, tem caráter qualitativo e baseia-se na metodologia de análise documental. Evidenciaram-se as diferenças nos construtos das duas avaliações, que ficam acentuadas pelos formatos dos testes: restrito a itens objetivos de múltipla escolha no SAEB e variado no PISA. Nesse sentido, remarca-se que o teste internacional tem maior proximidade a situações e demandas de leitura mais condizentes com práticas reais, o que não se verifica na avaliação nacional.
